Eagle Hunting Festival

One of the most spectacular customs of the Kazakh people is to hunt with specially trained eagles. They celebrate this with a festival held in Terelj National park at the heart of the majestic Khentii Mountains. The festival displays the skill of the best Kazakh hunters. Terelj National Park is most popular destination in the third biggest protected area in Mongolia. You can take leisurely strolls on meadows carpeted with edelweiss and a dazzling variety of other wild flowers, view fascinating rock formations against a backdrop of pine covered mountains and warder along the wooded banks of a mountain stream.

Trip itinerary

Day 1. (Feb 17) Mongolian Eagle Festival in Terelj National Park.
Meet in Ulaanbaatar. Drive to the Terelj National Park where the festival’s opening ceremony will begin at around 10:00 AM, then enjoy an introduction to the Eagle Festival, as well as the Hunters’ Show displaying traditional native outfits, the eagle hunting competition and many more activities. You'll explore the extraordinary rock and stone formations; some of them look quite similar to turtles. Horse ride trial. Drive back to Ulaanbaatar. End your trip. (L)
